It's late here in Butte, MT. We are watching Diners ,Drive-Ins, and Dives while we try to find the strength to sleep.
Today we woke up in Salt Lake City, UT surrounded by those that saw us differently. The feeling was similar to the Invasion of the Body Snatchers movie or whatever movie you can think of where someone/people are out of place in an alien world. We decided to start the day with Chick-fil-a for breakfast. The stupid GPS told us a store was downtown when it really wasn't. All that remained was a gigantic pit that non-Mormons were thrown into and burned. We escaped unharmed.
We then drove about 15 miles North to a bedroom community of SLC. We were lucky enough to find the mall where a CFA was located and we could walk around a bit (keeping in mind we haven't really done anything at this point other than drive for the CFA).
After that, it was really just driving, driving, and more driving. I wish I could say that we passed some really interesting things along the way. That has yet to happen. We did pass some mountains with snow, a large dome thing atop the Rockies (just outside of SLC) that we felt was related to the Mormon conversion centers, and tumbleweeds.
Idaho is very different than Utah and very different than Montana. SLC was very flat. Idaho has the hills and mountains. Montana has tons of mountains but not really any tree's.
Tomorrow we drive from here to Rapid City in South Dakota. Then Wednesday morning we will stop and see Mount Rushmore and the new Indian thingy. Then we are off to Austin, Minnesota (maybe). After that: Chicago then Ohio.
Alright, we should probably get some sleep. I really thought Bring it On was going to do it, but no, not tonight. I also thought that bag of popcorn would make me sleepy, but no, not tonight.
Oh well. The Internet connection here is awful. It's up, it's down, it's back up. We both cannot be on at one time. Sometimes my connection works and other times it's David with the good connection. Sometimes, neither has a connection.
Oh...wait. We had dinner out. We ate at a new Chinese restaurant that was supposed to be one name but ended up being another name. They were very busy so we thought that we did good with this find. I mean, even in Butte if the food is bad the food is bad, right? I ordered pork egg foo young and pork fried rice. David ordered Mongolian beef. Well, it was alright. The foo young was stuffed with tons of cabbage as filler and was not very tasty - well, it was disappointing. The fried rice was alright but the rice was overcooked and no longer rice. Of course there was also pea's and carrot's - why, why, why? David's meal was alright. The meat used for the Mongolian beef was a really tough piece of meat. Overall, somewhere in the C range. I wouldn't recommend it. Honestly though, I wouldn't recommend Butte.
