Results of tonight's dinner.
Ray and I made the Chilean Sea Bass: just some salt and pepper, seared the skin side off and then finished it off in the oven, flesh side down. Just a little butter and olive oil in the pan.
Salad: hearts of romaine, Bosch pears, green onion, flat-leaf parsley, homemade garlicky croutons and a spicy ginger soy dressing. Started the dressing as a base from a bottle and doctored it up. Good stuff!
As a note: no more Chilean Sea Bass (Patagonian Toothfish) as it is currently not sustainably fished and with current practices (mostly illegal), we won't be seeing this on any plates in a decade's time. There is one fishery that currently uses sustainable methods, but it is hard to come by.
Hey. I had some Sea bass last week from when I went to Pike's market. It was really good! We barbecued ours and it was very tasty. We also had some Sea scallops the other day with some hot and spicy noodles. Yumm! We are trying to eat more fish and veggies.
ReplyDeleteShould you be eating a lot of fish? It could be pretty dangerous for you. High mercury and all. If you're going to eat more seafood, look for options that are lower in mercury. Also, check out http://www.montereybayaquarium.org/cr/seafoodwatch.aspx
ReplyDeleteThey list which seafood is the poorest and best options based on sustainable fishing practices, mercury levels, etc. It would be a really good site for you to pay attention to. :)
Also, we're going for more seafood and veggies as well. I always feel a lot better after those kind of meals.

Fish is good but you can only eat so many ounces a week. I need to dig up my paperwork on it. Good thinking. On the second one you don't really think about what you shouldn't be eating. I guess I don't have time to dwell on it.
